JAWS Integrated Display Overview
The Juneau Airport Wind System (JAWS) is a turbulence warning system that provides alerts of moderate or greater turbulence in selected areas near the Juneau International Airport. The JAWS turbulence alert levels are estimated using real time wind measurements from the JAWS anemometers and wind profilers. The method for estimating the current turbulence level is based on turbulence data collected by research aircraft flying in a variety of high wind conditions around the Juneau area.
Development and operation of JAWS is sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration.
JAWS has an integrated java-based display application.
The following is a description of the various images and information
that are available on the display.
|
At the top center of the display is a clock showing the current time in UTC.
Beneath the clock, there is a set of three images that are always
displayed.
Beneath the Status Bar is a narrow Button Bar that is used to select the primary image that appears in the lower part of the display. The primary image is one of the five detailed display images pictured below or these help pages.
